Description

My entry for this beautiful contest: [link]

Because the link between man and water is much deeper than what we think. Water is the origin of life, and, with its various forms, is the livelihood for the whole environment and the planet. The water cycle includes also the human being, who is obliged to safeguard its fundamental function of life-giving. And so I wanted to represent the water: personified as a human, which, in a devout embrace, protects the planet itself and all forms of life.

The painting is entirely "free-hand" made with a Wacom tablet and Photoshop CS4, without the use of any photos or filters.

First off - I love that it's free hand. It really shows your creativity and that you can draw things from memory, most likely from drawing all the time which I wish I could do.

Secondly, I LOVE the concept and how you portrayed it. This piece is really original and I love that she is made out of water and how you drew that. You made it so that you can tell that she is water rather than having to tell me and then I see it. Also, the way she is holding the planet is great, I like how it shows care and compassion. One thing I do not truly understand is why her hair is made out of trees, I would picture it as more water. Though I can partly see why since water is important to the life of trees.

Lastly, great job with the clouds, I believe it completes the piece and I love how it wraps around her and the earth. It also creates some nice movement. Really great job on this!
