Gar aveva passato la notte a rigirarsi nel letto e a cercare risposte per domande che non sembravano averne, perciò quella mattina profonde occhiaie cerchiavano gli occhi malinconici, grigio chiaro, incastonati come perle in un incarnato leggermente olivastro. Camminava velocemente per il corridoio che dagli appartamenti ufficiali della guardia reale, attraversando l’ala ovest del palazzo, conduceva fino alla sala del trono. Gar era in netto anticipo, ma con l’agitazione che aveva in corpo, non riusciva proprio a camminare lentamente.
“Buon giorno vice comandante…”. Una voce delicata e soave, dolcemente musicale, interruppe il fluire spasmodico dei pensieri di Gar, portandolo bruscamente alla realtà.
